Scafell Organics, based just outside Nottingham and led by husband and wife team David and Kath Bowen, will go head to head with multinational firms at Chemspec Europe in June.
The company, which was founded 15 years ago and produces a unique portfolio of fine organic chemicals used across industries ranging from pharmaceutical to aerospace, will be in Basel, Switzerland, for the event in a bid to boost export sales. Scafell has carved out something of a name for itself as a specialist manufacturer of Grignard reagents, gases in solution and acid chloride chemistry. More recently, the Company has enjoyed considerable success with the synthesis of speciality monomers and high performance, thermoplastic polymers for composites and 3D printing applications.
Scafell is also eager to further promote some of its niche materials handling services. The Company’s repackaging and re-labelling activities have continued to expand on the back of a growing reputation for taking on specialist work with hazardous chemicals and the handling of air and moisture-sensitive compounds. In addition, Scafell offers specialist warehousing capacity, which it plans to expand in 2016, a “pick and pack” service and helps customers ensure that their chemical product labels and Safety Data Sheets are fully compliant with current regulations.
Kath says: “This year’s Chemspec event, in Basel, borders three of Europe’s strongest countries in the chemical sector – Germany, France and Switzerland – and for us it is the best place to meet current and new potential customers.”
As further evidence of its commitment to growth, Scafell has recently undertaken a strategic review of its activities, has refreshed its website and corporate branding and has invested in new business development resources to raise the Company’s profile in the market and engage more proactively with customers.
David adds: “This is a significant time in the development of our commercial activities and while we are proud of what we have already achieved in a hugely challenging environment, we are very excited about taking the business on to a new level in the months ahead.”
